PURPOSE OF ROLE

 

The Project Manager is responsible for the overall performance and success of medium-sized nuclear projects. This includes optimizing profitability, managing the timeline, meeting quality requirements, maintaining safe work practices, effective contract management, and executing general project management duties.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

  • Maximize revenue and minimize cost to optimize project profitability (CPI ≥ 1)
  • Manage the project timeline to meet schedule/program milestones (SPI ≥ 1)
  • Ensure project deliverables meet contractual quality requirements
  • Maintain a zero-harm safety standard for personnel, equipment, and the environment
  • Effectively manage the project contract to optimize Lesedi's entitlements
  • Lead the project through the kick-off, execution, and closure phases
  • Collaborate with the project team and client to drive successful project delivery

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Technician (Engineering diploma - ND) + 8 years suitable subject experience
  • Technologist (Technical engineering degree or HND) + 7 years suitable subject experience
  • Engineer (B.Sc. Engineering degree) + 6 years suitable subject experience
  • Experience in Project Management at Level 1 for at least 2 years
  • Any qualification specific to Project Management is advantageous
  • Registration as PMP i.t.o. BMBOK or equivalent is advantageous
  • Registration as CPM i.t.o. SACPCMP is advantageous

 

COMPETENCIES

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of project management principles aligned with PMBOK
  • Experience in contract management
  • Knowledge of planning principles and project management software (e.g. Primavera, MS Projects)

Skills:

  • Ability to work effectively with people and build stakeholder relationships
  • Strong focus on results, cost, time, and quality
  • Excellent attention to detail and methodical work approach
  • Technical competence relevant to the nuclear industry
  • Proficiency with computer systems and project management tools
